texas is a state of mind. texas is an obsession. above all, texas is a nation in every sense of the word.

someday i know i will move to Kentucky, but for now, here are the reasons why i love Texas.

- heat (i LOVE that it is NEVER cold)

- culture

- bbq

- chip and salsa is a staple

- authentic mexican cuisine - i probably eat it at least 4-5 times a week

- proximity to 4 uniquely different large cities: dallas, austin, san antonio, houston

- bluebell ice cream (cookies and cream to be exact)

- blue bonnets

- saying the texas pledge in school with my kids every morning

- Texas State Song: Deep in the Heart of Texas

- rangers games

- obsession with sports in high school, especially football

- texas pride - who else has so much pride in their state? i dare you to name someone

- efficient airport (VERY nice)

- obsession with sports in general

- Mavs, Cowboys, Rangers, Stars, etc...

- Home of the original Jason's Deli

- Home of Dr. Pepper

- a million freeways to get you somewhere faster (or slower..haha)

- calling everything "coke"

- cowboy hats as an acceptable form of 'dressing up'

- "bless her heart"

- southern drawls

- country charm

- old sayings that are not so old in tx

- millions of tx flags flying everywhere

- variety of terrain: we've got mountains (ok, small ones), plains, hills, and a coast

- i can lay out comfortably in March

- friendliness

- everyone shares my basic beliefs: Christian

- life moves slower

- Fuzzy's tacos

- Fort Worth Stockyards

- Galveston

- finally getting an H&M!

- spending a fortune on cowboy boots

- bull riding shows

- popularity of country songs in radio

- wide open spaces

- flat land: i hate feeling claustrophobic in wooded or even mountainous areas (confession: i've never loved canyons - i feel trapped)

- seeing an amazing and unobstructed sunset

- two-step and three-step classes at fort worth stockyards

- humidity (yep, i love it - never have to put on chapstick or lotion)

- sunshine all the time

- cultural diversity

- cowboys stadium

- awe-inspiring thunderstorms in the spring

- reason to go to the pool everyday

- originator of six flags

- dallas arboretum

- a million concert venues, all equally cool

- abudance of trucks (i'm getting one someday)

- okra

- crawfish boils

- down-to-earth people

- catching fire to enormous cockroaches

- AC on full blast always

- listening to the locusts at night (maybe an acquired thing)

- fireflies
